a long way from palau bidong

Today I got the voting papers for my first general elections. It’s exciting!I cant wait to fax through my vote. Life has definitely been an interesting journey and we’ve come a long way. It feels like only yesterday that we got our citizenship.

Only yesterday that we were freed from detention centers!

And only yesterday that we were hiding in ditches under shacks in refugee camps to prevent being caught and killed.

Yes, life has come a long way and I’m so happy to be able to sit in a nice suburban house writing about the past on a widescreen monitor :)

…and to leave this post, Here’s another performance from the very talented Terence Penk

i love living in Melbourne

the beauty of living in Australia is that you dont have to worry about how you dress OR maybe it’s just Melbourne OR me. but there’s one thing for sure, you can always be yourself :P

On Sunday, me and my fellow Cambo Ozians went for a stroll in the botanical gardens. It was quite relaxing having had the opportunity to enjoy God’s creation in lovely Melbourne sunlight.

Yesterday I went to pick up photos from photoplus and ended up taking some pro pics in a suit and frock! The suit pick is up above. It’s untouched. And here’s me out and about in Melbourne City in a frock! That’s what I love about Melbourne, you can be anyone or anything :P because it’s open to expression. That’s what makes us Melburnians.

life is blissful

I just came back from an engagement party today! It was wonderful & beautiful :) I love the way Cambodians get married, and I love the costumes.

This is an artsyesque shot I look of Linh! She’s very photogenic so that helps.

Here’s the group pic of our galvants at the local park.

me the video women as always :)

Yesterday I spent about 1 hr filming the music vid for Just Wanna Be! It’s in the editing stages but will have it uploaded soon. I wanted to experimented with self-videography and see if it can be done to a high quality. The beauty with self-videography is that you can structure the shots the way you prefer & edit accordingly to your vision. It’s as if writing in first person except using a camera.

It was an interesting experiment. I was wearing a big white frock and galavanting around st kilda botanical gardens in broad daylight, flipping, dancing & singing to my pre-recorded song. There were many glares of curiousity and a few people asked questions.

There is someone parked in front of my house & not getting out. I’m going to have a look! Will update later. Hope everyone is having a lovely day. Wow! If you are living in Melbs right now, it’s a beautiful day.

world medley video

Here is the video I spoke about yesterday.

It has a few soundbytes from the forum. The sound is not great! But it’s viewable. :)

a beautiful mix

I’m currently at an internet cafe in the middle of the city and all I can think of is how awesome Melbourne is… It’s a bit of everything! I just came back from seeing Sammy J’s 50 year show at the North Melbourne Town Hall. It was fantastic, really bawdy! but still humourous.

Yesterday we had the media madness forum at the Northcote Town Hall. It went really well! I performed with Terry (the vid in which I’ll upload later) a medley of world songs. Afterwards, we had the panel discussion with Julian Morrow and a host of other names. He was hilarious! and very nice to everyone.
