a really interesting week

I’ve had quite an interesting week.

On Tuesday I had the opportunity to meet António Guterres, who is the high commissioner from UNHCR. This was quite exciting as I hope to work for UNHCR one day.  After all, I was born in one of the camps they set up temporarily.

I also got to meet Janet Lim, who’s heads the asia/pacific region. She’s a lovely women.

If you’re interested in reading more about what the UNHCR does, here’s their website: http://www.unhcr.org/cgi-bin/texis/vtx/home

On Sunday, I got to asked to be part of the memorial service which was an absolutely honour. Although I was not directly impacted by the bushfires, I know people who have lost their homes and family members. I think it was absolutely great that Australia had this memorial service for those lost. Makes me proud to be Australian.

In other news, Clean Up Australia Day is coming up this weekend on Sunday 1 March. There’s many things you can do to help out by checking out this site: http://www.cleanup.com.au/au/

I’m helping out with the CAV in cleaning up Frankston Beach. If you’re interested in joining us, please contact me at kalyan@cucumbus.com.

Have a pleasant day :)

Peace and Harmony yo!

Oh! & my nephew turned 1 last week. Here’s some pictures from his birthday-Cambo style :)

another day in fed square

a long day!

& what other better way then to whine down than sitting with a bunch of strangers on the stage in fed square. I love it here! I feel like I’m in wonderland, kind of. There’s so many different people doing lots of different unrestrained activities. No one seems to care what other ppl think, they just do as they want. This is one of the reasons why I can’t simply leave Melbourne. there’s just so much to discover and see.

life has been very busy lately!
lots of ups and downs, but all together very satisfying.

A man just started talking. i think i got caught into a random event… It’s a volunteers meeting for the sustainable living festival…gush…Melbourne has everything.

Lately, Victoria has suffered a devestating tragedy… lots of lives lost and houses destroyed. You can give to assist bushfire victims here: http://www.redcross.org.au/vic/services_emergencyservices_victorian-bushfires-appeal-2009.htm. At the moment, the death toll is 189 – worst in our history. :(
